Kerian, Perak, 23 August 2023 – M K Land Holdings Berhad (“M K Land”) through its subsidiary Solar Citra Sdn. Bhd., celebrated the achievement of commercial operation for a 10.95-megawatt (“MW”) large-scale solar photovoltaic (“PV”) plant under the first LSS4 scheme in the state of Perak early this morning.
This project is part of the fourth cycle of the Large-Scale Solar 4 (“LSS4”) programme approved by the Energy Commission and was developed in collaboration with Solarvest Holdings Berhad as the main contractor, providing engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning (“EPCC”) solutions, and GoodWe Technologies Co., Ltd. (“GoodWe”) as the solar power solutions provider for this project.
The Celebration of Achievement of Large-Scale Solar Power Plant (“LSS”) Operation 10.95 by Solar Citra Sdn Bhd was graced by the Executive Chairman of M K Land, Hajah Felina binti Tan Sri Datuk (Dr) Hj Mustapha Kamal, together with Solarvest’s Managing Director, Lim Chin Siu, and GoodWe Malaysia’s Technical Manager, Muhammad Farhan Zainuddin.
Kamarulzaman Abu Bakar, Director of Solar Citra Sdn. Bhd., mentioned that with the successful operation of M K Land’s 10.95 MW large-scale solar power plant in Lembah Beriah, located in the District of Kerian, Perak, the project was completed more than seven months ahead of schedule.
“This solar PV power plant will provide a continuous stream of revenue to the M K Land Group, stemming from the sale of solar electricity to Tenaga Nasional Berhad (“TNB”). With a four-year extension of the solar power purchase agreement (“SPPA”), extending the total duration to 25 years compared to the original 21 years for the LSS4 project.”
“In addition, Solar Citra also actively contributes to carbon reduction and combating global climate change. Moving forward, we are committed to answering the government’s call and contributing towards the nation’s aspiration of achieving 31% clean energy generation by 2025,” he added.
During the same event, Kamarulzaman shared M K Land’s recent achievement as the company was selected by the Energy Commission to become a solar power producer under the Corporate Green Power Purchase (“CGPP”) Program, with an allocated export capacity of nearly 30 MW. This collaborative project between M K Land and Total Energies Renewables SAS aims to develop a 29.99 MW PV power plant for commercial operation in Kulim, Kedah, by the end of 2025.
According to Davis Chong Chun Shiong, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Solarvest, “The success of completing our first LSS4 EPCC project for M K Land signifies a significant achievement for Solarvest as it demonstrates our capability and commitment in delivering engineering and technical solutions for large-scale solar projects. Leveraging our expertise in the clean energy space, we are confident that we can help M K Land achieve optimal energy efficiency for their solar PV power plant.”
