Pulau Pinang, 20 Jan 2025 – Solarvest Holdings Berhad (“Solarvest”), Malaysia’s leading clean energy infrastructure developer, has signed a collaboration agreement with FBG Land Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Fajarbaru Builder Group Berhad (“FBG”), to joint develop the net-zero Medi-city in Batu Kawan, Penang.
The Medi-city project is part of a larger 235.8-acre master development led by FBG and Penang Development Corporation (“PDC”). Phase 1 of the development covering 51.2 acres, with an estimated gross development value of RM2 billion over eight years, will feature a 200-bed specialist hospital, integrated medical office space, and other mixed-use developments.
This key partnership signifies a collective commitment to explore sustainable development for Medi-city project. Solarvest involvement as the green infrastructure developer will conceptualise Medi-city net-zero aspirations as sustainable and energy-efficient township.
Medicity: Development of a Net-Zero Township
Spanning various components, Solarvest will investigate the viability of integrating clean energy solutions into Medi-city properties. These include solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, EV fleets, energy efficiency measures, battery energy storage systems, and green attributes trading.
The development will transform Batu Kawan into a sustainable medical hub, further solidifying Penang’s position as a premier destination for medical tourism.
Medi-city’s Green Infrastructures:

- Solar Energy Integration: Solarvest will supply and install solar photovoltaic systems across Medicity’s buildings and facilities, empowering energy transformation from the beginning of operation.
- Solar financing: Flexible and tailored solar financing options, enabling property owners to adopt solar energy with zero CAPAX while reaping long-term energy cost savings.
- Green EV-charging Solutions: Deployment of 100% clean energy powered EV-charging system in achieving net-zero transportation.
