Kedah, 21 December 2023 – Leading tire manufacturer Continental Tyre AS Malaysia Sdn Bhd (“Continental”) is leveraging the Net Energy Metering (NEM) scheme to install a 618.75 kilowatt-peak (“kWp”) rooftop solar photovoltaic (“PV”) system, in collaboration with regional clean energy expert Solarvest Holdings Berhad (“Solarvest”). The new solar PV system will be installed in Continental’s manufacturing plant in Alor Setar.
Continental is enhancing with this project, executed by its partner Solarvest, its commitment to higher energy efficiency and environmentally sustainable manufacturing, on the path to carbon neutrality by 2040. The newly installed rooftop solar PV system will help offset at least 536 tonnes of carbon emissions and save more than 800 megawatt-hour (“MWh”) in electricity usage per year for the plant.
Plant Manager of Continental Tyre Malaysia, Mr. Noor Izwan Ismail said, “We are steadfast in our commitment to sustainability and this significant step taken with Solarvest underpins our efforts towards carbon neutrality.
